Welcome to our web site!

This election season we Democrats have an opportunity to make history...to nominate either the first woman or the first African American in our nation's history to face  Senator John McCain for the office of President of the United States.

The primary season so far has drawn new voters to the polls and energized the party.  That's the good news.  Millions of people have lined up at polling places and waited hours, in some cases, to cast their votes.  And ours is a democracy built on the principal of "one man, one vote."

How then can the Democratic National Committee, in its infinite wisdom, deny the voters of Florida and Michigan their right to have their votes counted?   The simple answer is that they do so at their peril.  The Democratic party will find the going alot tougher in November without the critical votes of Florida and Michigan.

Countthevotes.net is a group of determined Democrats dedicated to getting the super delegates to pledge to count the votes of Florida and Michigan and to do it before the convention in Denver in August.  We started our efforts in Massachusetts, but we're eager to have others join us from around the country.

Time to count the votes!

The leaders of the Democratic party have created the situation with the votes and delegates of Florida and Michigan and they have it in their power to fix it.  They should do this well before the Democratic Convention in August.  They should do it now!  As Howard Dean has acknowledged, the voters of the two states went to the polls and cast their votes.  They should not be punished.  They are not at fault.  A flawed system is at fault.  The party rules are pretty clear in laying out a path for a solution -- count the votes and penalize the states by seating half the delegates.  What would be so difficult about that?   M Regunberg
